Acne Scars? Stretch Marks? Wrinkles?

Dermapen® Just Might Be the Answer to Help You Regain Your Confidence this Spring

Betsey R. of Grand Island was embarrassed. She had suffered throughout her adolescence and young adulthood with acne and the scars it left behind. Then after gaining 100 pounds with her first pregnancy, and left with unsightly stretch marks after dieting, she was seeking answers. Only in her 20s, Betsy wanted to look good and feel more confident. After only three Dermapen® treatments, Betsy’s wish came true.

“An even more remarkable story is Andrea M. of Cheektowaga, who had extremely deep wrinkles in her forehead,” said Caroline Marsillo, a medical esthetician at Neiman Dermatology. The lines were so deep that Marsillo and nurse practitioner Melissa Mele-Delgado, had reservations about whether the treatment would work. But after six treatments the lines are extremely faint, and Andrea is thrilled.

Dermapen®, which is being called a revolutionary, minimally invasive, and affordable, break-through for beautiful skin, is FDA approved for general dermabrasion, scar revision, and tattoo removal. A fractional micro-needling or collagen induction therapy, Dermapen tightens and rejuvenates the skin. Marsillo explains, “The micro-needles vertically stamp the skin at high speed creating micro-injuries to the skin. These micro-injuries harness the body’s ability to stimulate collagen production to fill in fine lines, acne scars, tighten loose skin, and minimize enlarged pores. “

Dermapen® is safe and effective as a fractional laser with a significantly shorter recovery period. Unlike fractional lasers, Dermapen® does not use heat to penetrate the skin, so there is no pain. Only a mild topical anesthetic is necessary 15-20 minutes prior to treatment and then removed before treatment begins. Some patients report a slight tickling at the treatment site, and the skin’s appearance will be slightly flushed and pink, similar to moderate sunburn immediately after treatment. Some patients also feel sensitivity and tightness when they touch the treated area. Minimal swelling and redness may occur and be more noticeable on the second day, but Dermapen’s® post procedure care helps with this. Delgado notes, “My experience with more invasive laser treatments, demonstrates that Dermapen® produces the desired result without any downtime.”

The great news is the benefits of Dermapen® are visible after just one treatment. Three to five treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart, are recommended for maximum results. More aggressive treatment is sometimes required for acne scar revision.

One patient recently said, “I was so happy with my first Dermapen® treatment. Immediately my skin was significantly softer and two days later I felt like my skin was glowing. I went out without foundation because I didn’t feel like I needed it! Now I am looking forward to the results after my next two treatments!”
