Independent Health’s 2018 Medicare Advantage Products offer enhanced benefits, premium consistency

BUFFALO, N.Y., October 2, 2017 – Independent Health’s 2018 individual Medicare Advantage plans will offer enhanced benefits, including $0 copayment for primary care physician visits and Tier 1 generic medications, with no premium increase, the company announced today.

Along with maintaining stable premiums, Independent Health is enhancing coverage by removing the copayment for primary care office visits and Tier 1 generic prescriptions on most plans. Members will also have a new telemedicine benefit provided through Teladoc® that enables them to talk to a doctor anytime, anywhere by phone, mobile app or online for a low copay.

Independent Health’s Medicare Advantage plans will continue to offer members the popular Premier Wellness Package, which includes $0 copay for routine eye exams and an eyewear allowance; preventive dental, a gym membership, Enhanced Annual Wellness Visit and FitWorks® Medicare.

FitWorks Medicare is a unique wellness program offered on all plans. Members are able to earn points by doing easy things to stay and get healthy, which qualifies them to receive a $50 TOPS gift card.

  • Independent Health’s Encompass 65® Basic HMO: $118 monthly premium
  • Independent Health’s Encompass 65® HMO (no prescription): $0 monthly premium
  • Independent Health’s Medicare Passport® Advantage PPO: $87 monthly premium (currently $128)
  • Independent Health’s Family Choice Special Needs Plan HMO: $39 monthly premium

The Annual Election Period, which is the time when most Medicare beneficiaries may choose and change plans, is open from October 15 through December 7 for coverage beginning January 1, 2018.
