BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York, Catholic Health and Catholic Medical Partners Announce New Three Year Agreement

— Multi-year agreement ensures BCBS members will continue to have access to quality Catholic Health services and Catholic Medical Partners physicians —

Buffalo, New York– BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York, Catholic Health and Catholic Medical Partners (CMP) announce a new three year agreement that ensures BlueCross BlueShield’s membership will continue to have access to Catholic Health facilities and Catholic Medical Partners physicians.

BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York, as the region’s leading health plan, continues to offer the most comprehensive hospital and physician network in the region to their membership locally, as well as nationally through the Blue Cross Blue Shield “Blue Card” program.

A local and national leader in quality and patient safety, Catholic Health serves families throughout the region across its continuum of care, which includes Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, home to the Catholic Health Heart Center and the area’s only Joint Commission Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center; Kenmore Mercy Hospital; Sisters of Charity Hospital and its St. Joseph Campus; Mount St. Mary’s Hospital; and a wide range of Home & Community Based Care services.

Catholic Health facilities have received the Blue Distinction Center+ designations by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) for the following:

  • Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Spine Surgery
  • Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, Cardiac Care
  • Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, Maternity Care
  • Sisters of Charity Hospital, Bariatric Surgery
  • Sisters of Charity Hospital, Maternity Care
  • Sisters of Charity Hospital, Spine Surgery

These designations are given by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) to only a select number of hospitals and health systems across the country based on quality and cost criteria.  In addition, Catholic Health facilities are also designated by BCBSA as Blue Distinction Centers for the following:

  • Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Knee and Hip Replacements
  • Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, Maternity Care
  • Sisters of Charity Hospital, Knee and Hip Replacements

Terms of the contract extension were not disclosed.
