Held on March 30, from 10:00am-3:00pm this event is an opportunity to explore the many healing properties of plants and the natural world.  Several plant and health centered community partners will be visiting the Botanical Gardens to share information and provide demonstrations. The Medicinal Garden is made possible by generous support from Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, part of Catholic Health and D’Youville School of Pharmacy. The Botanical Gardens’ horticultural staff will be interacting with attendees and available to answer plant questions.  Select medicinal plants will also be available for sale.  Tickets to this event are available at the door and are included with Botanical Gardens’ admission: $11 for adults, $10 for seniors (62+), $9 for students (13+ with ID), $6 for kids 3-12, Botanical Gardens’ Members and kids 2 and under are free!

The Botanical Gardens is celebrating Arbor Day this year with Arbor Day Tree Tours and an Arbor Day Tree Planting Ceremony on April 26.  Free Tree Tours will be held at 12:30pm and 2:00pm and the free Tree Planting Ceremony will be held at 3:30pm. The tours will take guests on a walk through the Botanical Gardens’ outdoor arboretum to visit trees in their collection.  Participants will also learn the basics of tree identification.  Members of the Botanical Gardens’ Horticulture staff and volunteer family will plant a new tree for their Arboretum’s collection to mark this annual celebration of trees. The walks and tree planting will take place outdoors, rain or shine.  It is recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes to participate. The tours and tree planting are free and open to the public. There is no need to register. Organizers ask that participants gather at the front entrance of the Botanical Gardens at the noted times.

In the spirit of upcycling plants, the Botanical Gardens will pull all the blubs from their Spring Flower Exhibit to hold their annual Spring Bulb Sale.  This popular sale is from 8:00am-11:00am on May 4. Buyers typically start lining up around 6:00am and organizers urge the public to arrive early because the bulbs go fast! These bulbs were forced to bloom this spring so re-flowering next season is not guaranteed.  The bulbs include common and unique varieties of hyacinths, tulips, daffodils and more.  The Botanical Gardens will provide a bag, and attendees fill them with their desired bulbs.  Because of the sales’ popularity, organizers limit three bags per person and each bag is $10.  The sale will take place in the garage located directly behind the Botanical Gardens.  Admission to the Sale is free and open to the public.
