DR. EPHRAIM ATWAL NAMED CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER FOR EYES ON AMERICA FOUNDATION
Dr. Kenneth Anthone, Chairman of the Board for the Eyes On America Foundation has named Dr. Ephraim Atwal as the foundation’s Chief Medical Officer. Since 2009, the Eyes On America Foundation has donated over 250 cataract surgeries for the needy, uninsured, Veterans, refugees and the under insured locally, nationally and internationally.
Dr. Ephraim Atwal is the Medical Director of Atwal Eye Care and Atwal Laser Vision Correction and Aesthetic facility located at 3095 Harlem Road, Cheektowaga, N.Y. Dr. Atwal He completed a Fellowship with world renowned researcher, Dr. Herbert Kaufman at L.S.U. He completed his Internship in Internal Medicine at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, and his Ophthalmology Residency at the Ochsner, Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Ophthalmology Program.
Dr. Atwal is the Medical Director of Eye and Tissue services of Untys. Dr. Atwal specializes in Laser Vision Correction including LASIK and PRK, “Laser Assisted” small incision cataract surgery.
The Medical Director of Eyes On America assists the Board of Directors and establishes criteria for surgical candidates eligible for donated surgeries. They help establish and oversee pre-screening of cataract surgery patients protocol. They are responsible for the coordination with the other Cataract surgeons, Anesthesiologists and surgical nurses and surgery center staff. The Medical Director reviews post-operative care and surgical results.
