Foster Care: Attachment, Development, and Mental Health

Children in the foster care system require a knowledgeable and comprehensive team to provide the care they need. This team includes doctors, therapists, teachers, care coordinators, lawyers, and volunteers. Arguably the most important members of this team are parents and caregivers.
This series will provide comprehensive and practical information about the psychology, neurobiology, treatment options, and resources available to help care for children in the child welfare system.
Session 3: Systems and Resources
In this session, you will learn about important legislation related to the foster care system. You will also learn about the structure of both the foster care system and the mental health system, in order to provide you with the knowledge to navigate these complicated systems. Finally, you will discuss local resources that provide treatment and support for children and families involved in the foster care system.
