Angela Blackley has been approved as the new incoming 2019-2021 President for the Network in Aging of WNY. The Network is celebrating 38 years as the premiere, non-profit networking group for professionals involved in the field of aging serving the eight WNY counties. In her new role, Blackley will be responsible to oversee the day to day operations of the network and its eight working committees.
“I am very excited to take on this leadership role for the Network,” says Blackley, “I have been providing assistance to the aging population for over 30 years in my career and am ready to continue and enhance the work the Network does and opportunities we provide our dedicated members. Through them, we are able to continue to provide vital supports for those involved in the aging process throughout the entire community.”
Blackley was born and raised in Lockport and received her Associates in Nutrition and Food Management from Erie Community College. She currently works as the early Memory Loss Coordinator for the Dale Association in Lockport. There she provides therapeutic intervention, social day and programming for those affected by dementia. She is a certified Powerful Tools for Caregivers Instructor and teaches a six-week, county sponsored program that assists caregivers of adults with chronic conditions. She is also a Transitions of Care Coordinator and helps families with loved ones being discharged from the hospital to make sure sufficient services are in place for them to have a successful transition back at home.
In the past she has been an active member of the State Wide Senior Action Council of New York, served as past president of the New York State Association of Nutrition and Aging Services Programs, been the secretary and VP of Professional Development for the Board of Directors for the Network in Aging, and is currently vice president of CASE (Coalition of Agencies in Services for the Elderly). She served as the WNY delegate to the 2005 White House Conference on Aging in Washington, DC.
