New Facebook page provides easy access to hospital diversion program run by, and for, recipients of mental health services – Renewal Center

Peer-operated and peer-staffed with highly-trained personnel, The Renewal Center (TRC) has served its constituents at 327 Elm Street, South of Genesee Street, in Buffalo, NY 14203, daily from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, for nearly one and a half years.  It now provides an easy avenue to access developments from its own Facebook page.  You can use its Internet URL,

“Hospital diversion” means that individuals with mental health or substance abuse issues who are in distress may avoid the turmoil of a trip to the Emergency Room, as The Renewal Center has several services, offered in a home-like setting by highly trained staff who understand, as they have been there: they have been through their own crises!  The guests, who are in a crisis as they define it, need no medical referrals nor special requirements to access these services, which are provided at no charge and offered in a safe and secure facility that has free parking.

Inspired by similar programs in other states that employ “The Living Room” model, The Renewal Center’s mission is to provide a safe, supportive, non- judgmental environment that empowers those who are struggling with the principles of wellness and recovery. We serve individuals who are at least 18 years old and have a primary mental health or substance abuse condition, assuring them that they are not alone.

Among TRC’s Menu of Services, one can: Speak with a Registered Nursing Professional; Access linkages to Medical and Non-Medical Service; Be referred to Alternative Community Supports; Find Peer Support; and Employ Tools for Support & Maintaining Wellness.

The Renewal Center (TRC) is a joint effort of two PEER-RUN not-for-profit human service agencies,.
