Windsong Radiology has made an effort to assist its patients with smoking cessation and will once again offer a smoking cessation program this coming January. Silvia Melton, RN, BS, CCM, a trained facilitator will provide attendees with information on the benefits of quitting, planning a quit date and attempt, strategies for quitting, overcoming nicotine withdrawal, learning about medication options and behavioral coping skills, changing habits/behaviors, stress reduction techniques, managing roadblocks and obstacles and reframing thoughts.
”Nearly 94 million current or former smokers remain at elevated risk for lung cancer which is the leading cause of death from cancer in this country. Studies show that smoking cessation clearly improves respiratory symptoms and bronchial hyperresponsiveness, and prevents excessive decline in lung function,” says Dr. Raja Cheruvu, radiologist at Windsong.
The program will take place in Windsong’s conference room at 55 Spindrift Drive in Williamsville on Tuesdays in January beginning January 8th and ending on January 29th. The four session program provides smokers with a number of tools to assist them in their cessation. To register, please call 716.631.2500 ext. 2240 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
