BUFFALO, NY (October 7, 2016) – Dr. Zubin Damania, also known as ZDoggMD is an international icon and man of mild-to-moderate mystery. Apart from writing, performing, and producing award-winning medical rap videos that educate and entertain, he’s a highly sought-after thought leader and speaker. Rapper and internist Dr. Damania wants to shake up healthcare with ideas as bold and personable as his satirical videos.
Dr. Damania is the keynote speaker at P2 Collaborative of Western New York’s annual Spotlight on Population Health (SOPHI) Awards ceremony. Dr. Damania will focus on the emerging Health 3.0. For him, Health 3.0 is merging the best aspects of Health 1.0 (deep sacred relationships and physician autonomy) and key pieces of Health 2.0 (technology, evidence, teams and systems thinking). In Western New York physicians recognize the need to use technology, but often suffer from “provider fatigue” when electronic health systems interfere with or impede the human interaction that is the hallmark of good physician/patient relationships.
Dr. Damania currently serves as the Director of Healthcare Development for Downtown Project Las Vegas, an ambitious urban revitalization movement spearheaded by Zappos.com CEO Tony Hsieh.
The awards ceremony is acknowledging organizations across the eight counties of Western New York who are demonstrating excellent work in Population Health. Through this award ceremony, the hope is to educate the WNY community on the great work underway in the region, and even create some new collaborations. The community benefits when like-minded organizations and people collaborate, support and learn from each other, and the SOPHI awards ceremony helps make the connections between and among these organizations.
Following the awards ceremony, Dr. Damania will be participating in a lunch and learn on Physician Burnout at Buffalo General Hospital with residents from ECMC, UBMD and the VA hospital.
The event is Friday, October 14th at Buffalo RiverWorks. Tickets are still available. Visit www.p2wny.org/events for more details.
