Revealing New Information on New York Air Quality and Impact on Residents’ Health

New York, NY – (April 7, 2022) – On Thursday, April 21, the American Lung Association in New York will release the 23rd Annual “State of the Air” report, which reveals changes to the state’s air quality in most counties and metro areas since last year’s report.

WHAT: The American Lung Association is releasing the results of its 23rd annual “State of the Air” report, an annual air quality “report card” that tracks Americans’ exposure nationwide to unhealthful levels of ozone and particle pollution. The report grades the local air quality and ranks the most polluted and cleanest U.S. cities for air quality.

WHEN: The embargo on the 2022 “State of the Air” report lifts on Thursday, April 21 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time. The report and interviews will be available in advance, under embargo, to credentialed journalists by request.

WHY: The new report from the American Lung Association finds millions of people are living with and breathing polluted air, placing their health and lives at risk.
