Weathering the Storms

Spring is here, teasing us with the ups and downs of its ever-changing weather patterns. As always, spring represents the rebirth of nature and all of its beauty.

April focuses on many topics — autism, minority health, cancer screening, measles, Parkinson’s Disease, the earth, and more. In reflecting on these topics, we can’t help but be reminded of our need to empathize with others experiencing challenges. We are also facing a new reality in which our reliance on social media has made it more difficult to discern fact from fiction in making good decisions regarding our own health and well-being. Many in our community are also experiencing job loss, as schools, hospitals, and non-profit organizations are impacted by insufficient funding for health initiatives that affect us all.

“One way to stay calm in weathering the storms around us is by cooling down,” says Adam Scheldt in his article on page 32.

To respond to some of these challenges, Buffalo Healthy Living is featuring non-profit appeal letters in our magazine, online, and in social media to enlist our readers’ support in helping our non-profits continue their important work.
