Beyond “Summer School” – The Gow School Summer Program
Each year, the Gow School campus welcomes about 100 students aged 8-16 for The Gow School Summer Program (GSSP), a fun and enriching camp experience designed for students with academic challenges or learning differences. The 5-week program can be attended as an overnight or day camp, featuring morning classes, afternoon activities, and weekend field trips.
Morning classes at GSSP keep minds sharp and help bridge the gap between school years. Students choose four classes from core academic subjects and electives, including math, science, study skills, robotics, fine arts, and Gow’s reading remediation program, Reconstructive Language. Afternoons are filled with sports, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures, and camp classics like Color War and Carnival. Weekend adventures include amusement parks, museums, sporting events, camping, and more across Western New York and beyond.
Located five miles outside of East Aurora, The Gow School has a century of experience in educating students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, and similar learning differences. During the school year, The Gow School admits students in grades 5 through 12 from around the world, who are usually full-time boarding students. Gow’s proven, research-based curriculum, small class sizes, and expert faculty instruction foster quick and lasting progress for students.
For 35 years, GSSP has created a space where campers feel understood and supported. For many families, attending GSSP marks the first time their child feels genuinely successful in a school setting. With personalized instruction, positive peer relationships, and plenty of fun summer activities, it’s no surprise campers keep coming back to GSSP year after year.
