2024 Time Capsule to be Placed in Front of Original Sacred Heart Home

CLARENCE, NY – The Brothers of Mercy Wellness Campus (BrothersofMercy.org) will host a campus-wide community open house on Thursday, June 20 from 4-7 p.m. The event also coincides with the celebration of the organization’s centennial, which officially occurs on Monday, June 24.

Visitors can enjoy tours of all facilities and ride free shuttles across the campus. It is also a rare opportunity to see the administration’s “White House” farmhouse built in 1880s as well as The Brothers’ Residence. Chefs from each facility will provide refreshments and desserts, and there will be drawings for prizes.

“As we reach the culmination of our year-long centennial celebration in June, it presents a great opportunity to open our doors to community residents who may not be familiar with the different levels of care we provide on our campus,” said Peter Eimer, Chief Executive Officer of The Brothers of Mercy. “It has been several years since we had a campus-wide open house, and during that span we opened Sacred Heart Home Assisted Living & Memory Care in 2020. Our staff looks forward to showing people around each building and answering any questions about our services and programs.”

Attendees to the campus open house can enter at the main entrance at 4520 Ransom Road or 10570 Bergtold Rd. and check in to participate at any of the following five facilities:

  • Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
  • Russell J. Salvatore Outpatient Therapy Clinic
  • Sacred Heart Home Assisted Living & Memory Care
  • Trier Woods Independent Living Apartments
  • Montabaur Heights Independent Living Apartments

At 5 p.m., staff will have a brief ceremony where a variety of campus items and memorabilia from 2024 will be sealed in a time capsule and buried in front of the 1952 northeast cornerstone in the former Sacred Heart Home at 4520 Ransom Rd., the first care facility constructed on the campus.

Six Brothers from Germany arrived in Buffalo on June 24, 1924 to embark on their mission of providing compassionate care to the sick and elderly residents. From its origins of riding bicycles through the streets of Buffalo to deliver home care, the mission has remained devoted to serving the essential health needs of Western New Yorkers community through the motto of “The Charity of Christ Urges On.” This proud tradition continues with all levels of care and senior living on the Clarence campus, where the Brothers relocated in 1952.
