“Many of our residents are veterans. We wanted them to receive the celebration they deserve,” shared Lisa Haglund, Heritage President, and CEO, as Heritage celebrated Veterans Day 2020 throughout their communities, nationwide.

She explained that presently there are many veterans that call Heritage their home. Earlier this fall, her teams at each of the Heritage senior living locations embarked on a new project—to record their military memories as a way to preserve the past.

“Our veterans are passing at an alarming rate every day. These amazing individuals have risked their lives to defend our freedom for decades and now we are caring for the greatest generations of all. Especially during these unprecedented times of a global pandemic, we working harder than ever to protect our most vulnerable population, as we strive to live the Heritage mission to promote Hope, Dignity, and Purposeful Living to those entrusted to our care. Part of that is the tremendous responsibility of sharing their stories. The ability to engage with our residents and share their memories so that we may all learn from their experiences is something that we are honored to be able to do.”

Heritage made videos available for viewing at www.heritage1886.org/veterans beginning on Veterans Day, November 11, 2020. The page will continue to be updated as new interviews are added throughout the year.

“We want our residents to be able to leave a legacy of their service. What a blessing it is for Heritage to be a part of this important part of history,” she concluded.
