Giovani Fiore is the 2022 Celebrity Child for this year’s 60th Annual Variety Kids Telethon. He is 5 years old, calls himself “Gio,” and lives in the Town of Tonawanda with his mom, dad, and 11-year-old brother Ethan. Gio attends kindergarten at CHC Learning Center, loves swimming, jamming to music, spending time with his brother, taking walks, and socializing.
Gio was born at 34 weeks due to his mom’s preeclampsia, a pregnancy complication characterized by high blood pressure and damage to other organs, most often the liver and kidneys. He was diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, epilepsy, is wheelchair dependent, and fed through a g-tube.
Gio is a wonderful little boy, and you can meet and learn more about him at this year’s 2022 Variety Kids Telethon on Saturday March 5, 2022, from 6 to 11 pm on WGRZ, Channel 2 and Sunday, March 6th from 10am to 8pm on WBBZ Cable 67.1, Channel 5.
Variety – the Children’s Charity of Buffalo & WNY has touched the lives of sick, disabled, and disadvantaged children in our community for over 80 years. Variety beneficiaries include John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, the Variety Tent #7/Robert Warner MD Rehabilitation Center, and dozens of other local children’s charities.
The annual Variety Kids Telethon, a WNY flagship event, is the longest running, locally produced telethon in North America. The Telethon raised over $1 million in 2020 and $787,264 in 2021.
