Chat with urban farmers and enjoy a wide range of farms and activities including entire yards given over to gardens, pizzas cooked on site from the produce, a u-pick worm farm, entire yards given over to gardens, and culturally significant crops grown with and for neighbors – vegetables like Hmong red cucumbers and Congolese eggplants.
In addition, there will be free, informal talks on specialties like raising chickens, harvesting honey, and the importance of culturally significant crops.  Master gardeners will be available to answer questions at FEEDMORE WNY, and UB’s Food Lab will discuss public policy implications for urban farming.  Select farms will have produce available for purchase.
The self-guided tour is absolutely free – no tickets required, and runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 28.  Find a printable map and schedule at UrbanFarmDay.com
