I have been enjoying our spectacular summer days, scrumptious corn on the cob, fresh tomatoes and peaches, and will be sad to say goodbye to summer. Even as cooler days set in, fall isn’t officially here until September 23.

It’s been a busy year for Buffalo Healthy Living. We were audited and the results of our survey are in. About 94,500 readers view us monthly, and thousands more connect with us through social media. We learned that 59% of readers keep the magazine for more than one month, and that our readers are divided equally between men and women ages 25 through 75. More and more, people of all ages are striving to be healthy.

The last thing I thought I would become is a business owner and publisher. Back in 2010, I was cautioned that print is dying. Five years later, Buffalo Healthy Living has tripled in size, with 66% of those surveyed reading us in print and 36.8% reading us online. The magazine was nominated to receive a Population Health Award from the P2 Collaborative of WNY, and I will be honored personally at the Business First 2015 Women of Influence Awards Luncheon on September 17 for my role as entrepreneur and president of a business that I helped grow significantly.

There is a great deal to be thankful for – and I am especially grateful to everyone in the community who has mentored and supported me. Enjoy this issue of the magazine, and stay healthy.

Sincerely,
