The Brothers of Mercy Named to Newsweek’s ‘America’s Best Nursing Homes List’

National Recognition Cites Quality Metrics and Resident Satisfaction
Clarence, NY – The Brothers of Mercy Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center was named to Newsweek’s annual America’s Best Nursing Homes list for 2026 today, ranking in the top five percent out of 600 skilled nursing homes in New York State.
The Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, located at Ransom and Bergtold roads in the Clarence Hollow south of Main Street, is also Erie County’s largest CMS-rated five-star facility.

The list recognizes the top 1,200 skilled nursing homes out of 15,000 across 33 states for their commitment to safety, quality and resident well-being.Newsweek’s rankings are compiled through a partnership with research firm Statista that identified the facilities using metrics from the following four data sources:
- Quality Metrics Data: Published by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) data were used to determine the performance of nursing homes
- National Survey: Thousands of medical professionals and managers working in nursing homes were invited to complete online survey
- Accreditation Data: Provided by The Joint Commission (TJC) and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)
- Google Reviews: As a proxy for resident satisfaction
The Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, which commemorated its 50th anniversary in June, provides comprehensive inpatient therapies, including physical, occupational, speech, cardiac, pulmonary and neurologic. Its location in Clarence, just 10 miles east of Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, is convenient for Western New Yorkers to receive rehabilitation or chronic disease management they need to return home and improve their quality of life.
