BUFFALO, N.Y. (April 13, 2026) – The Independent Health Foundation will welcome families and neighbors to its first 2026 Good for the Neighborhood event on Wednesday, April 15th, at the Westminster Community Charter School.
For more than 30 years, the Independent Health Foundation has been a trusted community partner, helping families and neighbors across Western New York access the care and resources they need. Through its free Good for the Neighborhood events, the Foundation delivers health and wellness education and practical tools to neighborhoods where access to care may be limited.
“We look forward to these Good for the Neighborhood events each year because they give us the opportunity to connect directly with our community and provide meaningful support,” said Carrie Meyer, Executive Director, Independent Health Foundation. “Our goal is for attendees to walk away with the tools and the knowledge they need to make healthier choices for themselves and their families.”
At each location, attendees will receive a hygiene bag stocked with essential items including toilet paper, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and deodorant. They will also receive a Healthy Options recipe bag containing ingredients to make a delicious vegetable stir-fry.
Participants can also take advantage of free blood pressure screenings provided by ECMC, and connect with local community organizations. In addition to health screenings and resources, children can enjoy fun, engaging activities at each event.
