Linda’s son Eric was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was 3½ years old, but his seizures became more severe and frequent when he was 18. “He was having as many as 50 seizures a day,” says Linda. After being hospitalized, and placed in a coma for 3 months to undergo extensive testing,

Linda was advised to place Eric in a home for the continuous care he required, but would hear nothing of it, saying, “As long as I am alive, I will take care of my son.”

Linda learned about was Amazing Health Care’s in-home support services program (CDPAP), that would enable Eric to receive the care and support he needed to live as independently as possible in his own home. CDAP provides support, medical and personal care, and household services including syringe feeding, meal preparation, and help with daily life activities. CDPAP allows patients and families to direct their own care, with agency assistance, and reimburses non-licensed caregivers, including family members, for the care they provide.

For Linda, there simply wasn’t a choice. “It is my responsibility care for my son. I would not put him in a home, and wouldn’t want to hire someone else to care for him.” Through CDPAP, Linda cares for Eric full-time without the burden and anxiety of always feeling financially insecure. She said, “The people at AHC have been wonderful. They introduced me to different therapies for Eric, and to support groups that support my own mental health.”

CDPAP is primarily intended for those who are aging and require the support they need that enable them to receive care in their own home. Call 716-995-7787, or visit cdpap.amazinghomecare.com to learn more.
