Buffalo Corner Reading Series

Like all art, poetry bridges communities and fosters tolerance. BCRS provides a forum for cultural differences and understanding while helping writers find inspiration and improve their craft.

Nadia Shahram and friends from the Iranian-American community will present a program about the human rights violations currently being perpetrated on women, youth, and other Iranians by the country’s brutal Islamic Republic Government.

Shahram is an activist, attorney, writer and a reciter of classical poets including the 13th century Iranian poet, Rumi who believes in the power of poetry to inform through the arts, bringing attention to human rights violations, most recently, the uprising in Iran.

Through the telling of heartbreaking stories, including traditional and contemporary literature, music, and movement, this programs will focus on the current struggles of Iranian people who are engaged in revolution against atrocities and injustices being perpetrated by an oppressive regime.
