BUFFALO, N.Y. — May is Mental Health Awareness Month. As a reminder of the importance of mental health awareness, Delta Sonic is “Rounding Up for MHA” throughout the month of May. Now through May 31st, customers at Delta Sonic car wash or convenient stores in and around Buffalo can opt to “round up” their purchase in support of Mental Health Advocates of Western New York (MHA) to help families struggling with mental illness.
“The nation is seeing an unprecedented increase of people suffering from mental health challenges including our own team members. Delta Sonic is proud to support the important work of Mental Health Advocates in our community through the round up campaign” explains Kim Allen, Delta Sonic Marketing Director.
“We are grateful to Delta Sonic for bringing attention to this growing need,” says MHA Executive Director Melinda DuBois. “The collective trauma of the last two years has only worsened an existing mental health crisis creating a new level of anxiety and uncertainty – especially among our youth. MHA is renewing its focus on wellness with prevention and early intervention initiatives and making it a priority to expand existing services to reach more youth primarily where they spend their time – in schools and online.”
This year, the non-profit agency is celebrating 60 years of service providing support systems and programs for individuals and families, schools, and workplaces who are impacted emotionally, financially, and socially on a daily basis due to this disease. The agency also works to eliminate stigma, reduce barriers to treatment, and raise public awareness and understanding of what it means to live with a mental illness.
