Linking Women, Fathers, and Families for a Better Way of Life

By LuAnne Brown, CEO, Buffalo Prenatal Perinatal Network (BPPN)
During a time of growing uncertainty regarding nonprofit funding, Buffalo Prenatal Perinatal Network (BPPN) remains a steady lifeline for the most vulnerable families in our community. Our mission is unwavering — to uplift mothers, fathers, and children through compassionate, life-changing support, especially in communities too often overlooked.
We See You.
We see the strength in every parent. We see the hope in every child. We see the urgent need for health equity in every neighborhood. And we help shape and create healthier, more just, futures through home-based care and parenting support, education, advocacy, and empowerment, building stronger families, one story at a time.
A Lifeline for Maternal and Infant Health.
Our work is evidence-based, and in-home, focused on prenatal and postpartum support, as expectant mothers receive personalized guidance, nutritional support, (OMIT-childbirth education), and parenting coaching, reducing the risks of preterm birth, low birth weight, infant mortality, and child neglect.
Empowering Families Through Education.
Education is power, and we ensure families are well-equipped. BPPN offers education on breastfeeding, infant care, positive parenting, and much more, with support that continues after birth, with parenting classes and guidance for long-term family wellness.
Tackling Health Disparities.
Access to quality care should not depend on income, zip code, or socioeconomic status. BPPN’s free case management and educational programs break down barriers to health care and promote equity for mothers, fathers, and children.
Supporting Mental Health.
Pregnancy and parenting come with emotional challenges. BPPN provides mental health support through group support and peer support for moms and dads experiencing anxiety, depression, or stress, helping them build resilience and find healing during this challenging time.
Strengthening Community Connections.
Knowing that parenting can feel isolating, BPPN helps families form lasting bonds through support groups and peer connections, which fosters shared experiences to create a web of nurturing support.
Partnering for Stronger Outcomes.
BPPN collaborates with local hospitals, clinics, community health organizations, and nonprofits to create a continuum of care for children and families.
Advocating for Systemic Change.
Buffalo Prenatal Perinatal Network (BPPN) advocates for systemic change with a focus on underserved families. Through our voice and work, we are helping shape a future where every parent has the tools they need to thrive.
Proven Impact and Innovation.
From our nationally recognized perinatal PTSD program, Survivor Moms’ Companion, to our Community Health Worker initiatives, fatherhood classes, and empowerment groups, BPPN is creating a real, measurable impact. In 2024, we were honored to earn third place in the NIH’s Maternal Health Challenge, a recognition that underscores the innovation and effectiveness of our work.
A Healthier Buffalo Starts Here.
More than a non-profit, BPPN is a vital part of Western New York’s support system. Our work touches thousands of lives each year and creates a foundation for stronger families, healthier babies, and a more resilient community.
