Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service Launches New Mobile App

Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service (NFRRS) has taken a significant step forward in making print news and other information more accessible for individuals who are blind, have limited mobility, or another reading challenge with the launch of its new mobile app.
The app, free on iOS and Android platforms, allows users to easily listen to NFRRS’s programming anytime, anywhere. Its streamlined navigation is designed to remove barriers to access, offering greater convenience for listeners who rely on the service for daily readings of national and local newspapers, magazines, books, and vital community information.
For 38 years, NFRRS has been a trusted source for accessible print media in Western New York. Until recently, access required a special radio receiver or online streaming through a web browser. Now, with the launch of the app, users can enjoy the same high-quality programming with just a few taps on their phone, tablet, or other smart device. The app’s intuitive interface offers features such as live streaming, program schedules, archived content, and personalized settings for users. Built-in accessibility options, including voice-over compatibility and high-contrast modes, ensure a seamless experience for users.
“We’re proud to bring this technology to our community,” says NFRRS Executive Director Michael Benzin. “The app is part of our ongoing mission to make information accessible to everyone. The whole effort is possible thanks to the support of the Buffalo Host Lions Club!”
The app modernizes NFRRS’s service, strengthens its impact, expands reach, and reaffirms the organization’s commitment to inclusivity and independence for those who need it most. If you or anyone you know would like to receive NFRRS programming, become a volunteer reader, or support the organization, please call 716-821-5555 extension 3, or send an email to read@nfradioreading.org.
