Big Wheels Bike Club is a non-profit organization focused on biking and socialization for anyone aged 18 and over. Rides typically take place 7 mornings and 5 evenings a week, weather permitting. Morning riders often enjoy stopping for coffee together. Evening riders often stop for ice-cream. There’s also a breakfast ride on Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day, along with other special club rides, a family picnic, and a year-end banquet.

Members of Big Wheels come from all over Western New York to enjoy 10-12 mph, 13-15 mph, and 16+ mph small group rides. They also often participate in rides that support various causes, such as the Ride for Roswell. Big Wheels offers a great opportunity to explore bike paths, city and suburban roads, and country rides. What better way to meet new people, see different parts of our region, and do something good for yourself and others?

Big Wheels recommends road bikes, hybrids, e-bikes without throttles, and recumbent bikes for riders, and says, “Wearing a helmet is a must, as is a mirror and one or two water bottles.” Most importantly, they adhere to the rule, “No one left behind,” promising that anyone who experiences a mechanical or physical difficulty will never be left alone.

Learn more by attending a Big Wheels open house on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 1 to 3 pm at North Presbyterian Church, 168 Payne Ave., North Tonawanda. Additionally, an introductory 13-mile ride takes place on Saturday, May 4, 2025 at 9:30 am at Dodge Elementary school parking lot in East Amherst.
