BUFFALO, N.Y. — Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center today announced plans for an expanded Amherst location at Park Club Lane, to be named for longtime supporter Scott Bieler in recognition of his significant gift made to the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation.

Scott Bieler is a longtime supporter of Roswell Park who has enabled numerous programs benefitting cancer patients across the region.

The Roswell Park Scott Bieler Amherst Center will enable an expansion of the services currently available at Roswell Park’s satellite site on College Parkway, creating a Williamsville hub for cancer patients in and around Buffalo’s northern suburbs.

“Expanding our comprehensive care with the Scott Bieler Amherst Center means that more patients will have access to high-quality diagnostic services and world-renowned treatment in their own backyard, experiencing hope and comfort as soon as they walk through the doors,” says Candace S. Johnson, PhD, President, CEO and M&T Bank Chair in Leadership at Roswell Park. “Scott’s incredibly generous contribution is making this possible for patients. He is tireless in his dedication to helping this community, and the impact of his kindness will touch every patient that comes through our doors for decades to come.”

“For years, I have witnessed the hope that family members, friends, customers and co-workers have been given thanks to the amazing care provided by Roswell Park,” says Bieler, President and CEO at the West Herr Automotive Group. “I want Roswell Park to continue their incredible work for patients and cancer research for years to come, and that’s why my commitment remains unyielding. I am thankful to our many Western New York customers and their generous support of West Herr that allows us to give back to this community in so many positive ways.”

Bieler has been a key supporter of Roswell Park for 20 years. He has served on the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation board since 2002. His significant contribution to Roswell Park’s 2015 capital campaign led to the naming of the Scott Bieler Clinical Sciences Center, which opened its doors in May 2016 on Roswell Park’s downtown campus.

In two years, after the completion of the building, all services currently provided at 100 College Parkway in Williamsville, NY, will move to the new location. The Roswell Park Scott Bieler Amherst Center will bring comprehensive services including clinical trials, screening, diagnostics and chemotherapy to patients north of Buffalo and in the Niagara region. The new location will provide enhanced services for patients with various cancers, all in one convenient and welcoming center designed by cancer experts and informed by input from cancer patients. New services offered at the Williamsville location will include imaging (radiology) services, onsite labwork and pharmacy, and an expanded list of subspecialty care provided by experts focusing on gynecologic, urologic, dermatologic, gastrointestinal and thoracic (lung/chest) cancers and lymphoma.

Patients of the neighboring Roswell Park Hematology Oncology Northtowns and Breast Care of WNY sites on Park Club Lane will also be able to take advantage of these services.

The two-story, 26,000-square-foot center is in the early stages of planning. Groundbreaking is anticipated for late 2021, pending approvals.
