Windsong Providing Essential Healthcare Services During COVID-19

The CDC Interim Guidance recommended shifting elective non-urgent inpatient diagnostic and surgical procedures when feasible to outpatient settings like Windsong, so that hospitals are better able to address the COVID-19 pandemic. Although non-essential exams at Windsong are being cancelled or rescheduled, Windsong remains open for essential diagnostic breast imaging, MRI, CT, PET/CT, Nuclear medicine, Ultrasound, X-ray, and interventional radiology services such as kyphoplasty and oncology procedures.

Windsong President, Dr. Thomas Summers states, “During this difficult time we want to express our gratitude to Western New York’s hospital employees, whose valiant efforts inspire all of us as they work tirelessly to treat patients suffering from the COVID-19 virus. I’d also like to thank Windsong’s front line employees – registration staff, technologists, allied healthcare workers, doctors, physician assistants and nurse practitioners – who continue to put our patients first to provide the high quality services that our community has come to expect. Their much needed continued hard work has reduced the burden on our healthcare systems overwhelmed by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

To reduce exposure and protect its vulnerable patient population, schedules and services have been altered to provide for adequate social distancing and additional time for disinfecting. Select telehealth interventional and genetic consultations are also available. Genetic testing kits are being sent directly to patient’s homes.
