Holidays bring a mix of emotions including joy, stress, and feelings in between. Below are 10 tips to creating balance and boundaries that can help minimize those holiday ups and downs.
- Create a morning routine that includes meditation, journaling, gratitude, and gentle exercise.
- Hydrate with water infused with fresh lemon in the morning, and aim to drink half your body weight in ounces daily.
- Establish a workout routine, even if only in 10-minute increments, striving for 20-30 minutes of daily sweat time!
- Make easy grab-and-go breakfasts, and salads loaded with veggies for lunches. Prepare broth-based soups and salads for light dinners, avoiding excess salt, sugar, and processed foods.
- Stick up for you and your health. Don’t overextend yourself. Be mindful of what you’re eating and drinking, asking, “Is this the best choice?” “How am I going to feel after chowing down on this?” Take care of you!
- Sleep well. Try getting to bed early without any electronics. On days without any obligations, sleep-in and enjoy a peaceful guiltless day, or a pajamas weekend.
- Bring healthy beverages and snacks to share at parties. No excuses. Other guests will be grateful!
- Create a calendar of your events and obligations, adding time for exercise, meal prep, family, and me-time.
- Find an accountability partner for daily check-ins, workouts, or as a meal-prep companion.
- Find balance. If you enjoy a little too much one night, take the next few days off to hydrate, sleep, eat right, and sweat! Everything in moderation.
