“In physical therapy, few methods provide as gentle, yet effective, relief as myofascial release (MFR),” says Adam Field, PT. According to Field, MFR is a hands-on therapy technique that targets the tight connective tissue, or fascia, surrounding muscles and joints. This tissue is often overlooked when patients seek treatment for their chronic pain. The fascia, when stiff or restricted due to injury, surgery, or poor posture, often causes pain and limits mobility. Using MFR, Field applies sustained, gentle pressure to these areas, helping the tissue soften, lengthen, and regain natural movement. Unlike massage, the technique is slow and patient, and often held for several minutes to promote release. After a session of MFR combined with massage, patients report less soreness, improved range of motion, and an overall sense of relaxation.

Field has earned a reputation for blending technical skill with compassionate care. With a background in massage, bodywork, and movement studies, he trained at the John Barnes Institute and the Upledger Institute, both recognized leaders in fascia-based therapies. His approach combines therapeutic and deep tissue massage with MFR to provide patients with a comprehensive toolkit for recovery.

Field’s journey through physical therapy—from home care to outpatient treatment—has shaped his mission to help patients move beyond opioids and surgery to discover the body’s natural healing ability. At his practice, located inside the JCC Benderson Family Building, Field welcomes patients dealing with chronic pain, postural issues, or movement restrictions.

Through careful, patient-centered hands-on techniques, Field helps people reduce tension and improve mobility with less pain. For those in the Buffalo area seeking relief and resilience, his work provides a gentle, yet effective, path back to health. To schedule a session, call him at 716-982-8200.
