On June 6, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration implemented the MISSION Act strengthening the nationwide VA Health Care System by empowering Veterans to have more options in their health care decisions.
One of the new benefits provided by the MISSION Act is the addition of urgent care and walk-in clinics located within the local community. This offers convenience to eligible Veterans offering urgent care by an approved provider, without prior VA authorization
This urgent care benefit is meant to give Veterans a convenient way to get treatment for minor injuries and illnesses such as colds, strep throat and pink eye. To be eligible for urgent and walk-in care, Veterans must be enrolled in the VA health care system and have received care through VA from either a VA or community provider within the past 24 months. Primary care and emergency room care continues to be offered as an option for Veterans at VA medical centers and community based clinics.

To date, approved urgent care locations are in Amherst, Buffalo, Cheektowaga, Tonawanda, Williamsville, Jamestown, Lakewood, Olean, Niagara Falls, and Batavia.
