Founded in 1988 by a group of breast cancer survivors wanting to support and educate other survivors and their families, Breast Cancer Network of WNY (BCN) is a nonprofit organization that provides programming, education, and support to individuals impacted by breast cancer.

BCN is excited to announce their new home, located on Millionaire’s Row, in the United Way Building at 742 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo. Rob Jones, BCN’s Executive Director says, “The new space provides with more meeting rooms for education programs, support groups, restorative health classes, a book club, board meetings, dissemination of literature, and tote bags for newly diagnosed patients. The location also allows us to serve a much more diverse population.”

Jones is also looking forward to the 2nd Annual Day of Renewal for Women Impacted by Breast Cancer, taking place at their new location on Saturday, October 21, from 10 am to 3 pm. Event workshops include Reiki with Melanie Rimkus, Therapeutic Arts with Rachel Wallmeyer, Flower Bouquet Arranging with Amy Hartl, and a Writing Workshop with Emily Piercell from Wildfire Magazine. Attendees will be treated to a light lunch, and are asked to arrive between 9:30 and 10:00 am. To register, visit https://www.bcnwny.org/2nd-annual-day-of-renewal.

In addition to helping those impacted by breast cancer from diagnosis through survivorship, BCN is dedicated to fundraising to find a cure and decrease the number of women impacted by the disease. The organization is also involved in advocacy and public policy in an effort to pass legislation that shortens the waiting time for metastatic breast cancer patients to receive social security disability benefits.
