Buffalo Medical Group (BMG) is proud to announce the opening of its new Lockport office at 6950 South Transit Road. The new 19,000 square foot location features 40 exam rooms, 21 providers (including primary care doctors), 35 staff members, and 440 parking spaces. Both the interior and exterior of the building are Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified. Developed by the non-profit U.S. Green Building Council, LEED’s set of rating systems apply to the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of green buildings, homes, and neighborhoods, to help building owners and operators be environmentally responsible and use their resources efficiently.
In addition to primary care, patients can seek treatment for issues related to oncology, orthopedics, podiatry, and urology, and additional services are being considered. Other onsite services include laboratory blood draw, X-ray, ultrasound, oncology, and infusion.
Vigel Varkey, MD, says, “The site was chosen for its ideal access to both Niagara and northern Erie County residents. The closing of the Lockport Memorial Hospital provided the opportunity to grow and enhance Buffalo Medical Group Services in Niagara County, where we had offered oncology services. The expansion matches BMG’s dynamic shift to a whole patient health focus through our primary care team and supportive services, and the belief that doctors should stand with patients at the center of the clinical decision-making process.” He adds, “We continue to grow our primary care practice by adding 4-5 additional physicians to our practice yearly, and have continued to expand our patient-focused services to complement our care model.”
