Confident Girl Mentoring Program, Inc. (CGMP) is gearing up for another season of jump rope and family fun. The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Funds were established at the Community Foundation to provide support to four areas that were important to Mr. Wilson: caregivers, community assets, design and access, and youth sports. Endowment funds, like these created to honor Mr. Wilson, are designed to grow over time and provide funding for charitable causes according to a client’s wishes.

CGMP is excited to announce that its annual jump rope competition will feature the hard work of area youth in three divisions, a book bag, and a food giveaway. “We are thrilled to bring this pastime sport back to the WNY Region. We have witnessed the mental effects of COVID-19 on youth and families, so it is critical to provide enriching programs that improve mental strength self-esteem, and confidence” said Tiffany Lewis, President and CEO of CGMP. This year’s event will be held on August 28th at Gerard Place, 2515 Bailey Avenue; Buffalo, NY 14215 from 9:00 am-2:00 pm. “Gerard Place is thrilled to sponsor this fun event for the second year in a row. Empowering the youth through sports and leadership opportunities is what we stand on” said David Zapfel, Executive Director of Gerard Place. The event will practice social distancing by following COVID-19 Federal Health and Safety Guidelines. COVID-19 vaccinations will be available.

The outpouring of additional community support and collaborations help to make this event possible.

“The youth of TRU-WAY Community Center enjoyed the 6-week program. The professionalism and leadership of Ms. Lewis and her team gave our students hope!” said Byron Trice, Executive Director of TRU-Way Community Center.

“It’s a pleasure to sponsor an event where youth will learn valuable skills that will optimize their overall health and well-being,” said Stan Martin, Buffalo Office Director of Cicatelli Associates Inc.

“My campaign is thrilled to be able to support this wonderful opportunity for confident girls to shine!” Rebecca Town for Buffalo City Court Judge.
