WNY Shopping With Pride – this month long event is designed to highlight locally owned LGBTQ+ and ally businesses and merchants. Niagara Pride encourages everyone to support and shop at the participating merchants. WHAT IS WNY SHOPPING WITH PRIDE? This event is an opportunity to showcase LGBTQ+ and ally businesses as well as serve as Niagara Pride’s primary fundraiser. Fidelis, M&T Bank, and The Buffalo Sabres are official proud sponsors of WNY Shopping With Pride 2022.
HOW DOES IT WORK? Businesses wishing to participate can sign up at www.wnyshoppingwithpride.org. There are 4 categories of donations that a business can select. Each level provides different increments of promotion that Niagara Pride will provide throughout the month of June 2022, directing individuals to shop at the participating merchant’s physical store and/or visit their website.
HOW DOES THIS EVENT BENEFITS NIAGARA PRIDE? Niagara Pride is a 501(c)(3) non-profit which serves LGBTQ+ individuals and families in WNY. Our agency relies on donations solely to provide services and we have no paid staff. Funds raised last year contributed to Niagara Pride being able create to a Pride community garden in Niagara Falls, launch a scholarship fund for LGBTQ+ high school seniors, conduct a comprehensive LGBTQ+ needs survey of Niagara County, implement a sexual wellness program through WNY, and offer Diversity and Inclusion trainings to businesses and organizations.
Niagara Pride hopes to expand services in late 2022 and 2023 to include programs for LGBTQ+ youth and seniors in Niagara County, NY.
