BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York, in partnership with The Buffalo Waterfront, announced that it will extend its popular, free Fitness at Canalside virtual class offerings through the end of 2020, with a new dance fitness series, led by three of the areas most beloved instructors.

Beginning today Monday, October 5, a new Funday Fitness class will be available every week on The Buffalo Waterfront website through December 19. For this class, Nicholas Picholas, on-air personality for Kiss 98.5, will spin the latest hits while certified instructors Jen, Meg and Olivia lead participants through up-beat dance routines virtually.

The decision to offer this new virtual class to the community for the reminder of the year comes after thousands of individuals participated in BlueCross BlueShield’s virtual classes this summer.

“As our community continues to adapt our routines in every way, BlueCross BlueShield is pleased to provide free options for individuals to enhance their overall health and wellbeing,” said Julie R. Snyder, Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York. “BlueCross BlueShield’s free virtual classes will give individuals a healthy outlet, which is especially important this year and as the colder weather comes our way.”

“We are very excited to continue bringing fun and fitness to the comfort and safety of your homes with our newest virtual series, Funday Fitness presented by BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York” said Kevin Parkinson, Vice President of Be Our Guest, Ltd.

Virtual fitness classes are free and open to individuals of all ages, regardless of fitness level or experience. New virtual fitness videos will go live every Monday at 11 a.m. and be available to watch through the Buffalo Waterfront website for a week until the next class is posted. All classes are filmed using social distancing protocols.

Participants are encouraged to share their experiences on social media through #BCBSFitness. Link to the pre-recorded ‘Funday Fitness’ class can be found at www.buffalowaterfront.com. For a complete list of healthy activities visit bcbswny.com/play.
