“Spectrum Health Q&A” Premiers for Mental Health Awareness Month

Spectrum Health & Human Services debuted a new informational video series on its social media platforms.

Called “Spectrum Health Q&A,” the series answers basic questions about counseling, mental wellness, careers in the profession, and other topics in an informal and brief format.

“We wanted a more personal way to answer important questions that people may have about mental health,” said Associate CEO Cindy Voelker. “This will be another way to educate our community about behavioral health and make information more accessible.” Members of the Spectrum Health team will host the series, and consumers are invited to post questions on social media. New episodes will appear monthly. Bob Cannata, Vice President of Crisis Response Services hosted the inaugural installment.

The series was launched leading into May which is Mental Health Awareness Month. “Mental Health Awareness Month puts a healthy spotlight on mental wellness,” said Voelker. “One in five people experience mental illness in their lifetime and the past year, the COVID-19 pandemic has increased stress, anxiety, and feelings of isolation and depression in people who may not have experience mental health issues before. ‘Spectrum Health Q&A’ along with our other initiatives like the Community of Caring – our free series of online experiences posted to our website every day – were developed to provide our community with easily accessible information and help them to realize they are not alone in what they or their loved ones might be going through.”
