What’s New at the JCC?

By Annette Pinder

Great things are happening at the JCC. Jim Mahjoubian, Chief Communications Officer at the JCC, has been a television and video producer, a teacher, coach, and mentor. However, Jim says his most rewarding experiences have been creating programs that provide equitable access to youth for whom so many opportunities out of reach.

Jim is excited to be working with new CEO Mike Rawl, as well as Chief Program Officer Gon Erez. “Mike’s vision is to for the JCC to become a vibrant and welcoming town hall filled with activities,” says Jim. Previously the CEO of a JCC in Youngstown, Ohio, Mike developed many exciting projects, including an e-sports arena, a swim club, an outdoor pavilion, a high-end art and dance studio, and dance and theatre programs. A program currently in the works is a youth theatre program, along with plans to upgrade the outdoor pool.

There’s a lot to be excited about, especially with COVID-19 restrictions loosening for those fully vaccinated. This summer, camp will include a vast array of activities including ziplines, ropes courses, wall climbing, archery, swimming, an outdoor amphitheater for performances, and more.

“There’s no better time than now to take advantage of getting back in shape both mentally and physically.
