Sinus Issues, Headaches, TMJ, Vertigo? Consider Cranial Facial Release!

by Kelly Engel, DC
Cranial Facial Release (CFR) is a chiropractic technique that specifically targets the bones of the face and skull to improve breathing, relieve sinus issues by opening nasal passages, and encourage better sinus drainage. CFR has also been used to treat deviated septum, sleep apnea, snoring, headaches, TMJ disorders, and vertigo.
Opens Nasal Passages:
CFR uses small, inflatable balloons inserted into the nasal cavity and briefly inflated. This technique aims to gently expand the cranial bones, especially around the sphenoid, which can help relieve pressure and open up the nasal passages, making breathing easier.
Enhances Sinus Drainage:
By addressing potential restrictions in the cranial bones and tissues surrounding the sinuses, CFR can help improve the natural drainage pathways of the sinuses. This may lead to a decrease in chronic congestion and related discomfort.
Reduces Facial Tension:
Sinus issues often cause facial tension and pressure. CFR works to release this tension through non-invasive manipulation of the surrounding tissues, promoting relaxation and possibly easing facial tightness.
Optimizes Cranial Respiratory Motion:
The skull consists of multiple bones that subtly move with each breath. CFR aims to release cranial fixations and restore this natural movement, which is believed to improve overall respiratory function.
Deviated Septum, Sleep Apnea, TMJ, Headaches, and Vertigo:
CFR is often part of a holistic approach to health and wellness, focusing on underlying structural or functional issues that may contribute to symptoms.
