The Mercy Neurology Center, a specialty neurology practice operated by Catholic Health, is pleased to welcome Asfa Shad, DO, to its office located in the Marian Professional Center at 515 Abbott Road in Buffalo.
Dr. Shad specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of neurologic conditions, including Parkinson’s disease, neuropathy, stroke, epilepsy, and dementia. She has a special interest in headaches, performing occipital nerve block procedures and administering Botox® treatments to relieve head pain.
“I strive to create a caring and compassionate atmosphere for my patients, while improving their quality of life by optimizing the best evidence-based treatments for their condition,” said Dr. Shad in describing her care philosophy. “Taking the time to educate my patients on their condition and treatment options is essential to helping them feel invested in their care.”
Board certified in neurology and clinical neurophysiology, Dr. Shad attended Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA. She completed her residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI; and a fellowship in neurophysiology at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, TX.
Dr. Shad has authored several journal articles and volunteered for medical mission trips to underserved areas, including Jordan, Northern Pakistan, and Operation Safety Net in Pittsburgh. “I believe everyone should have access to quality healthcare, and actively participate in philanthropic medical volunteering and outreach programs,” said Dr. Shad, who is fluent in Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi. “My focus is on building strong relationships with my patients and providing the community with comprehensive neurologic care.”
