The Breast Cancer Network of WNY (BCN) is excited to announce its inaugural “Hope for Tomorrow” 5K Run and Walk, taking place on Friday, June 6th, at Como Lake Park in Lancaster, NY. This event offers more than just a 5K race; it provides an opportunity for breast cancer survivors in Western New York to come together to celebrate their survivorship while also honoring the memories of loved ones who have been lost to the disease.

The race will kick off at 6:00 PM, but activities will begin at 4:00 PM, featuring check-in, music by DJ Erich, food trucks, speeches at the Gazebo Main Stage, a race warm-up, a survivors’ parade, beer, and awards following the race. The Survivors Pavilion will showcase several local cancer organizations as well as vendors, all of whom are breast cancer survivors. The Hope for Tomorrow 5K will take place on a certified course, and all runners will be timed. Walkers can choose between the full 5K course or a shorter one-mile walk, with both routes located entirely within Como Lake Park.

“We want this to be a true celebration of breast cancer survivorship, while also raising awareness about the ongoing work needed to defeat breast cancer,” said Rob Jones, Executive Director of BCN. “5K races are a fantastic way to bring people together and promote this important cause.”

Registration is $30, and it is free for children under 14. Additionally, anyone who raises at least $100 will have their registration fee refunded. All proceeds from the Hope for Tomorrow event will remain in Western New York to support BCN’s initiatives in breast cancer support, education, and awareness with a portion of the proceeds allocated to breast cancer research.
