My name is Chef Rishone Todd, owner of Plated Soul, a personal chef and small venue catering business. I was eight years old when I first learned how to cook and dance from my grandmother at the Half Moon Hotel in Montego Bay, Jamaica. My grandma made incredible, flavorful dishes while providing service that wowed her guests and made their stay in Jamaica unforgettable. What she accomplished, and what I learned from her, inspired me to share my love for food, service, and dance with the people of Western New York.
In addition to Plated Soul, I am also a dancer and co-owner of Musicality Central, where I teach open dance classes and private ballroom lessons for couples. I have completed more than 80 first dances and 30 bridal party showcases.
Realizing that I have two gifts for which I am incredibly grateful, I decided to blend my skills to create a unique date night experience. The inspiration for the concept came about four and a half years ago in a business meeting with a couple of friends. As we spoke about life, business, and the future, I began to visualize how I could make what initially seemed like a silly idea a reality. Four and a half years later, through a pandemic that delayed the launch date, I am now bringing Dine & Dance to Western New York, both as a private chef who has been cooking for over 30 years, and as a dance instructor for over 18 years.
If you are wondering what to expect, Dine & Dance is a one-of-a-kind date night experience for two people, during which couples or best friends have the opportunity to experience 3 courses of fine dining followed by a beginner ballroom dance lesson. The first Dine & Dance takes place on Friday, September 30, 2022, at 6:30 pm at Niawanda Park Pavillion, at 600 Niagara Street, Tonawanda, NY 14150. Space is limited to 30 couples, with 25 at standard ticket pricing of $250 per couple, and five at VIP ticket pricing at $325 per couple. Semi-formal attire is required.
