Children in the foster care system require a knowledgeable and comprehensive team to provide the care they need. This team includes doctors, therapists, teachers, care coordinators, lawyers, and volunteers. Arguably the most important members of this team are parents and caregivers.
This series will provide comprehensive and practical information about the psychology, neurobiology, treatment options, and resources available to help care for children in the child welfare system.
Session 2: Mental Health
In this session you will learn about mental health disorders that children in the foster care system are most likely to encounter. Mental health disorders discussed will include Attachment disorders, Depressive disorders, Post traumatic stress disorder, and anxiety disorders. You will also learn about evidence-based therapies and medication treatments for these disorders.
