Good for the Neighborhood is a free, community-based wellness program that brings health-related training and tools to areas where access to health care is limited. Individuals and families are encouraged to manage and improve their health by attending quarterly health fair-style events and workshops.
Good for the Neighborhood is a program of the Independent Health Foundation in collaboration with host sites like West Side Community Services.
What’s included at each event: Produce/grocery giveaways, health and wellness resources, kids’ activities, raffles and prizes, and visiting organizations offering additional resources.
This event specifically will feature:
– Giveaways of hygiene supplies and produce bags with related recipe cards
– Talk one-on-one with experts on healthy living, behavioral health, colorectal cancer, medications and alternatives, and more.
– Healthy Options snacks, raffles, and prizes
– Blood pressure checks and free colorectal cancer screening FIT kits (for eligible adults)
– Short seated/standing yoga classes with Yoga with Candace (learn how to practice at home)
– Variety of local organizations providing information about their free and low-cost services
