Peer survey places Cancer Center as one of 300 named internationally

  • Newsweek, Statista survey more than 40,000 medical experts
  • Hospitals ranked over 11 specialties, including oncology
  • Only Buffalo center to be named to list of top cancer hospitals

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Recognizing our efforts globally on delivering high-quality cancer care to our patients, Newsweek has once again named Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center to its list of World’s Best Specialized Hospitals for Oncology 2023. It is the only Buffalo-area center to be included on the full list of 300 top cancer centers internationally.

The rankings were compiled by Newsweek in collaboration with research firm Statista, which identifies the best hospitals that specialize in Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Oncology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine, Cardiac Surgery, Neurosurgery, Pulmonology and Urology.
Newsweek and Statista invited more than 40,000 medical experts – including doctors, hospital managers, and health care professionals – to participate in online surveys that allowed them to recommend and assess various hospitals within their respective specializations. The results of the survey were then validated by a global board of renowned medical experts.

“Our strength, and what the world identifies us with, is our passion for personalizing patient care and cutting-edge research that leads to treatment breakthroughs,” says Candace S. Johnson, PhD, President & CEO and M&T Bank Presidential Chair in Leadership at Roswell Park. “This latest ranking from Newsweek goes to show that our long-standing legacy shines through on the global stage.”
