Replace Your Missing Teeth or Stabilize Your Dentures in One Visit With Mini Dental Implants

by Annette Pinder

Have a fear of smiling? Do you hide your smile because of missing teeth? Unable to eat what you want? Gums sometimes sore? Trouble speaking clearly? Do you want to restore your smile and confidence instantly? Mini dental implants may be the answer for you.

What are mini dental implants?

Mini dental implants have been used for many years to hold loose dentures in place, providing patients with the ability to eat, smile and speak with comfort and confidence.

Dr. Todd Ellis Shatkin, a member of American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and President of the International Academy of Mini Dental Implants at the Aesthetic Associates Centre in Amherst, has revolutionized the use of this non-surgical

Mini dental implant technology expanding it to be used for anything from replacing a single tooth, multiple teeth and even a full set of teeth in one or two short visits. Using a technique developed and patented by Dr. Shatkin, the mini implants can be placed and crowns cemented in the same treatment visit. Since 2000, Dr. Shatkin has traveled the globe training over 8000 dentists on his innovative procedures and he is recognized as a world leader in the field of Mini Dental Implants. He has personally placed over 10,000 mini implants with better than a 95% success rate.

How is this process done in one short visit?

After a complimentary consultation with Dr. Shatkin where X-rays and impressions will be taken, one treatment visit will be all that is needed for Dr. Shatkin to place the mini implant(s) in your mouth and position the final crown in about 30 minutes in most cases using a non-surgical procedure. According to Dr. Shatkin, “This procedure requires no tissue cutting or sutures and patients have very minimal discomfort following the procedure.” A single tooth can be replaced without the need to grind down healthy tooth enamel. You can walk out ready to enjoy the foods you wish without the long healing times and high costs associated with standard implants. This same procedure can be used to replace multiple missing teeth usually in less than an hour and a full set of teeth in about 3 hours. It is just one short visit to a great smile and happier you.

About Dr. Todd Shatkin

Dr. Todd E. Shatkin is the director of dentistry at the Centre, and performs all aspects of Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry. He has been in private practice in dentistry since completing dental school at the University of Pacific in 1989. Dr. Shatkin has been placing dental implants for more than 20 years and was the first dentist in WNY to place Mini Implants in 1999!

“I have treated thousands of patients with this new type of implant and patients are thrilled with the results and short recovery period. They also appreciate the decreased cost.” The mini implants cost about one-half what the standard larger implants cost and healing is immediate as compared to four to eight months for the standard ones. Dr. Shatkin states, “There is still a place for standard implants, but the minis offer many advantages which patients appreciate greatly! Many patients do not have adequate bone available for standard larger implants and minis are their only alternative.”

In addition to being a pioneer in these mini implant procedures, Dr. Shatkin was also one of the first dentists in WNY to provide Porcelain Veneers in 1989 bringing the state of the art in cosmetic dentistry from his training in California here to Buffalo. Since that time he has placed thousands of veneers changing his patients’ smiles for the better! “Porcelain Veneers are a wonderful way to improve discolored, crooked or chipped teeth and bring back that natural youthful smile you once had. The materials available today are more lifelike and prettier than ever before”
