Summer aSummer at Sem – A Great Experience for Girls this Summer

This summer girls in grades 5 through 8 can have a wonderful camp experience at Summer at SEM, which takes place from June 27 to August 5. Campers can participate in arts and crafts, fashion, cooking, games, science, sports, exercise, take day trips, or just relax with a book in the school’s wonderful library. Girls entering grades 5-6 get the first week of camp to themselves of special programming from June 27 to July 1. For the rest of the summer girls entering grades 7 and 8 can opt to experience SEM in the City, a community service program in which they spend afternoons learning about and volunteering at area non-profits.

Summer@SEM uses Buffalo Seminary’s high school facilities including the gym, squash courts and Larkin Field, with classes and clinics in racket sports and land sports like basketball, field hockey, soccer and lacrosse. Kacie Mills, director of Summer@SEM says, “Campers are encouraged to choose at least one physically-oriented class, such as The Great Outdoors exploring Delaware Park or Gardening at SEM in their new courtyard garden. Daytrips may involve mini-golf or bowling, while the school’s beautiful lawn is used for hula hooping, games of tag, and sometimes, just relaxing – stretching out in the sun and staring up through the leaves of the trees to the blue sky.”

Camp registration is open now. Sibling discounts are available, as well as annual scholarships for girls who attend camp and then go on to attend SEM during the school year. Learn more at www.buffaloseminary.org/SummeratSem or call Kacie at 716-885-6780 extension 215.
