Some experts categorize wellness into four main areas: spiritual, social, psychological, and physical. Although the terms “wellness,” “health,” and “well-being” are often used interchangeably, each one is a distinct concept.

Health.

Health is often defined as the absence of illness and disease, encompassing various physical, social, and mental conditions that fall under the umbrella of health.

Well-being

generally refers to living a fulfilling life where a person feels content. The World Health Organization describes well-being as “a positive state experienced by individuals and societies.”

Wellness.

The whole-health organization Take Care® states that wellness involves the pursuit of activities, choices, and lifestyles that promote health. Wellness acts as a plan or personal effort to attain health and, in turn, a greater sense of well-being.

A deeper understanding of the specific aspects of overall health and wellness can help individuals achieve both physical and mental benefits, leading to a more fulfilling life. The following are some ways to pursue wellness.
