Southtowns Radiology, a Rezolut partner and leader in medical imaging, is among the first in the U.S. to offer SecondReadAI™, powered by Lunit. This groundbreaking technology uses computer analysis to assist radiologists in detecting breast cancer at its earliest stages, providing patients with a crucial advantage in their fight against cancer.

“Our mission is to lead the way in cancer detection for our community,” says Dan Strauch, Director of Operations at Southtowns Radiology. “SecondReadAI isn’t just about finding cancer — it’s about giving our patients better chances for favorable outcomes.”

Early detection remains key. Women at average risk should begin annual mammograms at age 40. With SecondReadAI, every mammogram at Southtowns Radiology can be reviewed twice — once by a radiologist and again by the AI system. This ‘second read’ helps identify tiny irregularities that might be missed by the human eye.

“Think of it as a ‘blind spot warning’ for radiologists,” says Dr. Paul Pizzella, Medical Director. “The AI alerts me to areas I might overlook, giving my patients and me greater confidence.”

Clinical studies show SecondReadAI can increase early-stage cancer detection by up to 15%, enabling doctors to catch cancers when they’re smaller and more treatable. Several Southtowns Radiology patients have already benefited from early interventions thanks to this advanced technology.

Currently, SecondReadAI is not covered by insurance and carries a $40 fee. Health Reimbursement accounts such as HSAs and FSAs can be used as payment methods.

SecondReadAI is available at Southtowns Radiology’s Hamburg and Orchard Park locations and will be offered at Premier Medical Center in 2025. To add SecondReadAI to your next mammogram, call 716-649-9000 or visit www.southtownsradiology.com/services/second-read-ai/.
