Educational therapy is a unique form of academic support that connects home and school, tailored to a student’s individual needs. Laura Wexler, a certified special education teacher with over 25 years of experience, provides educational therapy by working closely with families, teachers, and therapists to turn IEPs and IFSPs into clear, actionable plans that address the whole learner.

Laura sees clients from birth through high school at her new location at Sweet Charlotte’s in Clarence. She also works with children at childcare facilities and schools, providing teachers and parents with guidance and effective home strategies. Additionally, Laura supports students with medical challenges at Oishei Children’s Hospital and Roswell Park.

A home to 70 families with school children, Sweet Charlotte’s is a lively hub for parties, play, and preschool activities that also hosts birthday celebrations. While working with Sweet Charlotte’s students and clients from across Erie and Niagara County, Laura says, “It’s the perfect fit. Sweet Charlotte’s owner, Molly Pitman, created an environment in which families can wait in the open play area while I work with their child.”

This fall, Laura will teach a new class at Sweet Charlotte’s with Katie Kinney, a food and occupational therapist, to help children develop self-help, motor, and regulation skills for kindergarten readiness through mealtime practice, cooperative games, and sensory play.

As if all of this weren’t enough, Laura is the co-founder of Totes of Love with Karen Meltser. In the past year, Totes of Love has distributed over 400 essential needs totes to families escaping domestic abuse. Additionally, as a board member of Abbie’s Angels, Laura supports caregivers of neurodivergent children with life-threatening medical conditions.
